Carloforte territory

This is an island in the Mediterranean sea located near the South-West coast of Sardinia, opposite the Sulcis-Iglesiente region. The island is 51’3 square km large, shaped more or less like a dome whose top coincides with the 211 metres of a hill known as Guardia dei Mori (literally meaning “the sentry of the Moors”). The island is one of the more commonly known resorts in Sardinia; the small town of Carloforte extends in a repaired bay on the East coast of the island. The island keeps areas of enchanting beauty, like its high rocky coasts surrounded by a crystal-clear sea and the wild Mediterranean bush formed by pine trees, holm-oaks, cane apples etc. To be mentioned some typical places like Nasca Basin and Calavinagra Pool (in the North of the island), the hawks protection area and the region of Becco (once the seat of a small miners’ village) and La Caletta beach on the West. This side of the island is also characterized by a series of grottoes which are only attainable by sea. The changing colours of the rocks, especially at sunset-time, are only one of the wonderful attractions of these places. The Bobba and Luccaise beaches, not far from the crags locally known as the Colonne, or other bathing areas like the Giunco, Girin, Punta Nera and Guidi beaches are localized along the South-Eastern more repaired sides of the island. These are only some of the natural attractions of these places: discovering the other ones will be the pleasure of your visit here. |
